Chapter 9: When It Stands, I Can See Their True Feelings

Chapter 009

“T-Taehee!”

Seongmin’s heart pounded as he watched the car pull up in front of the library.

Just as promised, Taehee had come to pick him up herself.

Last night, while fooling around with Minju, he had been overflowing with confidence.

He had planned to act the same way when he met Taehee—cool, collected, self-assured.

But now that he was actually face-to-face with the girl he had crushed on for so long, the tension was unavoidable.

‘Calm down.’

He muttered the command to himself as he walked toward her car.

The car stopped right in front of him. Taehee rolled down the window and spoke.

“You waited long?”

“No, I just got here too.”

“Really? Hurry and get in.”

“Okay.”

Seongmin quickly climbed into the passenger seat.

It wasn’t a particularly fancy car, but the fact that someone their age owned one at all was already impressive.

As soon as he buckled in, Taehee spoke up quickly.

“You’re really sure this is okay, right?”

“Yeah. Insurance will cover everything anyway, so don’t worry.”

In his previous life, he had handled plenty of traffic accident cases in the legal department.

A simple fender-bender like this was nothing to be concerned about.

Even if it turned out to be entirely Taehee’s fault, insurance would take care of it.

Still, she looked genuinely scared.

“Is this your first accident?”

“Huh? Yeah… I just got hired recently, and my mom handed the car down to me.”

He had heard she graduated from a two-year college and started working.

Apparently this car was a congratulatory gift for getting her first job.

Even watching her drive, it was obvious she was still very much a beginner.

‘Let’s check her status.’

Seongmin focused his attention on Taehee.

But strangely, the status window that had appeared over her head yesterday didn’t show up.

He tried concentrating again—several times—but nothing appeared.

‘So… I really do need to get hard first?’

Unconsciously, his gaze drifted toward Taehee’s legs as she drove.

She was wearing a short skirt; her smooth thighs were fully exposed.

But after overexerting himself yesterday, the magic club showed no sign of stirring yet.

‘This is going to be a problem…’

He had realized just how convenient it was to read a woman’s mind yesterday.

But if he couldn’t get aroused, the ability wouldn’t activate.

Right now, he had no way of knowing what Taehee was feeling.

‘Tch… it’d be so much better if I could see her status…’

Then, suddenly, he caught a faint, pleasant scent.

‘Hm? This is…’

It was coming from Taehee’s direction—a soft, nice fragrance.

Only now did he realize just how close they were sitting.

When he turned his head slightly, he could see straight down the open neckline of her shirt—her cleavage clearly visible.

The graceful line from her neck flowed down into the curve of her chest.

‘Ah… damn, that’s nice.’

The moment he saw it, the magic club began to slowly awaken.

Being this close to Taehee—close enough to smell her skin—was almost unreal.

And as the club stiffened toward her, it acted like a radar locking on.

‘Got it.’

The instant it throbbed, a status window flickered into existence above her head.

Just as expected—the magic club really was a radar that read women’s hearts when it got hard for them.

Seongmin hurriedly read the status.

‘Pervert bastard?’

For a second, he was stunned.

Then the message vanished into thin air.

The bluntness of it left him completely flustered.

Thinking back—he had been sneaking glances at her thighs and down her shirt.

He had even inhaled her scent on purpose.

From Taehee’s perspective, he must have looked like a total creep.

He had no choice if he wanted to activate the ability, but now he had accidentally branded himself a pervert in her eyes.

“Uh… um…”

Now he couldn’t even bring himself to look at her.

He had no idea what to say next.

‘Shit… what the hell do I do in a situation like this?’

While he was panicking, the car turned into a quieter alley.

Knowing she saw him as a pervert made it impossible to start a conversation.

He really had been staring at her legs and chest.

Even though there was a reason for it, he couldn’t exactly say that out loud.

He had no idea where to even begin.

‘I’m screwed. Totally screwed.’

An awkward silence settled between them.

In the meantime, the car pulled up in front of a café.

“We’re here.”

Taehee spoke with a somewhat chilly expression.

“Uh, yeah…”

Seongmin found himself sneaking glances at her, trying to gauge her mood.

“The accident happened in that alley over there.”

“Really?”

Taehee pointed toward the narrow alley where the incident had occurred yesterday.

“I asked my mom and saved the dashcam footage too. I’ll send it to you on KakaoTalk in a bit.”

“Okay, got it.”

Seongmin looked over the accident scene and later reviewed the dashcam video she sent.

From what he could see, it didn’t seem particularly unfavorable to Taehee.

But right now, with her expression so sour, he didn’t feel like bringing it up.

Sitting next to her felt increasingly uncomfortable.

“I’ll go to the restroom for a sec.”

“Sure.”

Taehee’s face was still cold.

But perhaps because she still needed his help, she was clearly trying not to show it too much.

And somehow that made it feel even more awkward.

***

“Phew…”

Seongmin found the restroom inside the building.

Only now did he let out the long breath he had been holding.

‘Ugh… I was trying to look good and ended up humiliating myself.’

It already felt like any chance with Taehee was gone.

He sighed deeply and stood in front of the urinal, pulling out his magic club.

The massive thing flopped out heavily, but all he could do was sigh again.

The ability was great, but the weird condition of needing an erection was the problem.

Just then, a big, burly man stepped up to the urinal next to him.

A tattoo peeked out from under his sleeve.

Seongmin didn’t pay him any mind and simply let his magic club do what it was made for.

Whoosh—

A powerful stream shot out with tremendous force.

‘Come to think of it… did my bladder get bigger along with this thing?’

It definitely felt like he was releasing way more than usual.

Then he noticed the man next to him sneaking glances.

Reflexively, Seongmin glanced over too.

The guy’s equipment wasn’t small.

But compared to Seongmin’s length and girth, it was nowhere close.

And the stream? Weak.

If Seongmin was a waterfall, this guy was a low-pressure showerhead.

“Ahem.”

The man cleared his throat awkwardly and turned his body slightly to the side, clearly embarrassed.

Being misunderstood as a pervert by Taehee had been frustrating.

But right now, in this moment, he felt strangely victorious.

‘This is the real battle between males, huh. Heh.’

As long as he had the magic club, he doubted he’d ever feel intimidated around other men again.

Seongmin shook out the last drops, tucked the club back in, and left.

And thanks to that random encounter, one thing became clear.

‘Yeah… what’s the point of trying to impress Taehee? She’s not even my girl…’

Once this was over, he planned to head to Minju’s place.

He still had to talk about the tutoring, and he needed to meet Jinsu.

‘And if Jinsu happens to be out…’

The image flashed in his mind again—Minju kneeling in front of him last night, lovingly tending to his magic club with complete devotion.

There was a good chance she’d welcome him again today.

He decided to treat Taehee’s matter strictly as business and move on.

If she thought he was a pervert, so be it—he could live with that.

That small shift in mindset eased the tension that had been weighing him down.

When he returned to the café, he felt noticeably calmer.

“Is the other party here yet?”

“Huh? Yeah… they said they’re on their way…”

Just then, the café door opened.

A man walked in and headed straight toward their table.

But when he saw Seongmin, he froze.

Seongmin froze too.

They recognized each other instantly.

“What the—? You know him?”

“No… we just… ran into each other in the restroom…”

It was the showerhead guy from earlier.

The man cleared his throat once, awkwardly, and sat down across from them.

“What the hell? Your boyfriend?”

“No, he’s just a friend.”

“Ahem… is that so?”

The man cleared his throat awkwardly, clearly conscious of Seongmin’s presence.

Then he got straight to the point.

“So the young lady hit my car—what exactly do you want to talk about now?”

“I just don’t think it’s entirely my fault…”

“Are you saying I drove badly? Why are you changing your story from yesterday? Should I call the hospital and have my passengers come down here to testify?”

The man raised his voice, practically shouting at Taehee.

She visibly shrank back, fear flashing across her face.

Seongmin felt a flicker of intimidation too just looking at the guy’s rough appearance.

But deep down, a strange confidence bubbled up—he felt like he could take this man on.

‘He’s just a showerhead anyway…’

He had already won the silent dick-measuring contest in the restroom.

There was no way he was going to lose now.

With that quiet assurance, he spoke up.

“Let’s start by filing an official police report for the accident.”

“What? Police?”

“It’s a minor collision with no injuries, so you didn’t report it yesterday—but there’s no reason not to now.”

“Are you trying to pick a fight or something?”

The man shouted, but Seongmin stayed completely calm.

He knew from experience in the legal department that getting emotional and yelling back would only turn it into a mud-slinging match.

The smart way to handle people like this was to stay composed and stick to logic.

“My friend entered from the main road, so primary fault lies with you for failing to yield.”

“No—I got hit on the side, which means I was already in the intersection first.”

He leaned forward aggressively, glaring right in Seongmin’s face.

But to Seongmin, the guy no longer felt threatening at all.

He just sounded like a weaker male trying to bluff.

Seongmin continued calmly.

“That’s not correct. Courts generally follow the rule of priority to the main road. In cases like this, most precedents treat it as simultaneous entry. When that happens, the main road has right of way—and you didn’t even come to a full stop.”

He laid out the man’s fault point by point.

Of course, he didn’t forget to casually drop references to court precedents.

And he made no mention whatsoever of Taehee’s potential fault.

Once the words “court precedents” came out of his mouth, the man’s voice began to shrink.

Taehee—who had been cowering just moments ago—started to sit up straighter, her expression regaining color and confidence.

“Sigh… is your boyfriend a lawyer or something?”

The man asked Taehee in a defeated tone.

She shook her head.

“Not yet—but he’s an S University law student. He’s going to be a prosecutor or judge soon.”

“You’ve got yourself one hell of a boyfriend. Fine.”

“I know, right?”

Seongmin flinched in surprise.

Taehee hadn’t corrected him—she hadn’t said “he’s not my boyfriend.”

“Ah… I see… Anyway, I’m sorry. I didn’t know the law well and thought I was the victim. Let’s just call it even.”

The man tried to slip away one last time.

But Seongmin calmly pressed.

In the end, he secured 500,000 won in cash for Taehee’s car repair costs.

The man grumbled that his insurance deductible was already maxed out, so he paid out of pocket instead of filing a claim.

The damage was only minor paint scratches, so the amount was more than fair.

The man apologized again as he left.

“I’m just a guy trying to make a living—hope you understand.”

“We do. Drive safely.”

“Thanks, kid.”

As the man walked out, Taehee watched Seongmin the entire time.

The moment the door closed behind him, she scooted right up next to Seongmin and spoke.

“You’re seriously amazing. How did you stay so calm and talk like that?”

“I mean… I didn’t do anything wrong, so why would I be scared?”

“Seriously, that was so cool. You were really impressive.”

She meant every word.

She didn’t fully understand the legal details, but watching Seongmin face off against the older man had felt like watching a powerful alpha male dominate a weaker one.

And she had clearly seen Seongmin come out on top.

Females are instinctively drawn to strong males.

Right now, Taehee felt—without a doubt—that Seongmin was the stronger one.

Because of that, the discomfort she had felt earlier in the car had already vanished from her mind.

“I can really believe you’re an S University law student now.”

“Yeah… it’s nothing special.”

“Still—thanks to you, we even got money. Today’s on me.”

“Huh?”

Seongmin was caught off guard by how suddenly forward she became.

‘Wait… didn’t she think I was a pervert just a little while ago? Is this just transactional give-and-take or something?’

He couldn’t quite grasp the mind of a young female who had just witnessed a dominant male in action.

But he wasn’t foolish enough to turn down her advances.
