Chapter 75: Master of Hellfire (2)
Shuuuu—
Jin-young flew onward, following the lingering trace of psionic energy.
With his sensory manipulation expanded to widen his field of view, he caught sight of the battle unfolding on the ground below.
Ordinary hunters locked in combat with a group of sudden, inexplicable mummies.
‘Black mana… I can feel it.’
Without the presence of black mana, the scene might have looked like some bizarre movie shoot.
Since the psionic energy signature was particularly strong here as well, Jin-young descended straight to the surface.
“……?”
“……!”
The hunters in the middle of battle froze in shock or raised their guards as a stranger dropped from the sky.
Jin-young scanned the group of hunters from various nationalities before locking eyes with one man and asking,
“Korean?”
“…Yes, but… who are you?”
The Korean hunter replied cautiously, still on high alert.
It was only natural—some unknown hunter had just barged in mid-battle, and his face was unfamiliar.
The tension from fighting the relentless mummies had everyone’s nerves razor-sharp.
To help a fellow Korean struggling far from home, Jin-young casually activated his psychokinesis.
KRRRTS!
The mummies spewing black flames had their arms and legs twisted and crumpled inward, forcibly compressed into perfect spheres.
In an instant, they shrank down to the size of baseballs.
They looked like neatly bundled white cloth balls.
“What the…?”
“He just… subdued them that easily?”
These were creatures that regenerated instantly no matter how much damage they took—and revived even after death.
Yet he had crumpled them in mere seconds.
And the compressed mummies weren’t regenerating at all.
The hunters stared in stunned silence, trying to get a better look at Jin-young’s face.
Of course, since it was a fake face, seeing it up close wouldn’t reveal much.
“I’m Korean too.”
“……”
At Jin-young’s casual response to the unspoken question of “Who are you?”, the Korean hunter was rendered speechless.
Normally he might have pressed for more explanation, but after witnessing that overwhelming display of power, he didn’t dare.
At that moment, another hunter mustered the courage to ask,
“Excuse me… are you perhaps support sent by the Egyptian Association?”
“What did he say?”
Jin-young, not understanding English, turned to the Korean hunter.
Now suddenly acting as interpreter, the hunter explained. Jin-young shook his head.
“I said I’m Korean.”
“Did you come because you heard Im Jae-ho hyung-nim’s request for help?”
The Korean hunter couldn’t hold back his curiosity any longer.
“Jae-ho?”
“Yes. Im Jae-ho, support team leader of Crystal Guild.”
“Ah, so Crystal Guild is here? Then you guys must be from the World Dungeon Control Organization.”
“Yes, that’s right.”
The Korean hunter finally felt a bit of relief—communication was possible.
Of course, he still didn’t know Jin-young’s identity, so full trust wasn’t there yet.
But at the very least, he didn’t seem like an enemy.
After seeing him effortlessly neutralize the unkillable mummies, it was impossible to think of him as hostile.
“Where’s Shin Soo-jeong?”
At Jin-young’s question, the Korean hunter pointed downward.
“She went down into the tomb to find whoever’s controlling the mummies. Jae-ho hyung-nim came back up midway to request backup from the Egyptian Association.”
“Yeah… I can definitely feel the energy residue and black mana coming from below.”
Jin-young tapped the ground beneath his feet with his shoe, muttering to himself.
Then he began walking toward the source of the flowing black mana.
Thud. Thud.
The floating bundles of white cloth trailed behind him like obedient pets.
Black mana continued to seep in from somewhere, trying to pour into what had once been mummies.
They attempted to regenerate endlessly, but Jin-young’s psychokinesis kept them suppressed.
The black mana simply accumulated inside the white spheres.
The hunters followed behind him in a daze, staring at the sight of a man casually leading a procession of mummy-balls.
They stopped in front of what appeared to be an ordinary wall.
There was no visible entrance to the tomb, not even a trace of a dug tunnel.
“An illusion barrier, huh.”
Jin-young detected black mana leaking through the wall.
On the surface, there was no entrance—but it was clearly blocked by a barrier.
Tssss—
He released psionic energy toward the wall.
Dark crimson sparks erupted on contact.
It was a vicious barrier—one that could rot flesh at the slightest touch.
Shuuuu—
Shin Soo-jeong and Im Jae-ho had entered without any resistance, so the barrier must have been deployed after the fact.
“Everyone, step aside, please.”
Once the Korean hunter translated Jin-young’s words, the group quickly backed away to a safe distance.
Jin-young glanced at the Korean hunter who had stayed behind beside him and asked,
“Why aren’t you moving?”
“You’re planning to break the barrier, right? As a fellow Korean, I’ll help. Our Master is down there too…”
“I’m not going to touch the barrier.”
“…Huh?”
The Korean hunter looked puzzled by Jin-young’s response.
“Why bother breaking the barrier and searching for an entrance? That just wastes energy.”
“Then… what are you going to do…?”
“Since it’s definitely underground, I’m just going to dig straight through.”
“That sounds even more exhausting—”
Before he could finish the sentence—
RUMBLE RUMBLE RUMBLE—
The ground began splitting open at terrifying speed.
BOOOOM!
Huge chunks of rock and earth erupted from below and flew outward in all directions.
The Korean hunter’s jaw dropped as he stared at the tunnel being excavated in an instant.
No excavator on Earth could match this pace.
The other hunters watched the flying debris in utter disbelief.
They had already been shocked when he casually crumpled the mummies—but now they couldn’t even begin to fathom how strong this man truly was.
BOOM BOOM BOOM!
There was a reason Jin-young was digging so quickly.
Shin Soo-jeong was down there fighting Lyle right now.
She was certainly strong, but she wasn’t yet at the level where she could defeat a prophet.
He had to reach her before Lyle could do anything irreversible.
‘This is the perfect chance to secure a reinforcement shuttle.’
Shin Soo-jeong’s ‘All Things Enhancement’ ability was incredibly useful in many ways.
Jin-young planned to create a debt with her this time so he could enjoy some of those enhancement benefits later.
Shuuut—
The floating mummy spheres in midair were sucked straight into his subspace.
“It’s dangerous, so don’t follow me.”
Jin-young said, peering down into the pitch-black hole.
The other hunters had no intention of following anyway—even without the warning.
With that, he jumped straight down into the darkness.
***
Shssss…
The jackal’s torn flesh began gathering back together in one place.
Shin Soo-jeong had expected as much.
The mummies had kept regenerating too.
“Here, take this.”
At that moment, a bottle filled with blue liquid flew toward her.
It was a mana potion.
Not domestic—judging by the quality, it looked quite high-grade. And not just one—three full bottles.
She had used up all her potions in the dungeon earlier, so this was perfect timing.
Shin Soo-jeong caught them quickly and downed one in a single gulp.
“Thanks. Are you… perhaps the secret agent from the Intelligence Department that Yoon Soo-ho mentioned?”
“The Association President really can’t keep his mouth shut, huh.”
The secret agent grumbled in response.
She never imagined the infamous secret agent would show up here in Luxor, Egypt.
And he had found her way down to this underground tomb with pinpoint accuracy.
She had been wondering when the Intelligence Department’s information network had become this good—when suddenly—
RUMBLE RUMBLE…
The revived jackal exuded an ominous aura.
The creature that had been standing on all fours now rose onto its hind legs like a human. Its front paws transformed into arms, gripping a halberd.
Aside from the weapon, it looked exactly like Anubis from Egyptian mythology.
『Persistent bastard… Since you’ve come all this way, I’ll kill you along with her…』
The moment the prophet finished speaking, the jackal threw its head back and roared.
“Awoooo!”
“Uwooooo!”
In response, the secret agent let out a matching battle cry.
For a split second, Shin Soo-jeong wondered if the agent had lost his mind.
Tssss…
But then a surge of exhilaration coursed through her body, boosting her overall abilities.
It felt remarkably similar to the enhancement she could apply to her body with All Things Enhancement.
“Grrrrr…”
The jackal flinched slightly at the agent’s roar but quickly bared its teeth again, growling.
“You hear that and still don’t back down? I like that attitude.”
The agent spoke casually and lifted the jackal into the air with psychokinesis.
Shuuu—KWA-BOOOOM!
He hurled it straight toward the wall.
The jackal slammed into the stone but burst right back out as if nothing had happened.
BOOM! BOOM! KWA-BOOOOM!
Like a billiard ball, it ricocheted wildly from wall to wall without pause.
Flesh tore away, blood sprayed, yet it regenerated instantly—though the pain was fully felt.
“Kyaaang!”
After countless impacts, the creature finally let its tongue loll out and whimpered.
“I’ve only heard the rumors, but you’re really strong. No—way stronger than the stories.”
Shin Soo-jeong clicked her tongue in genuine admiration.
Even in its enhanced humanoid form, the jackal was clearly far more powerful than before—yet it posed zero threat to the agent.
The rumor that even the mighty Liu Qinglong had conceded a step to him turned out to be true.
Tssss—
The agent opened a black portal in midair.
Shuuut—
The wildly bouncing jackal was sucked straight into the portal and vanished.
“After draining that much strength, the rest should take care of itself.”
The secret agent muttered to himself.
Thud. Thud.
He stepped through the torn-open wall.
***
Jin-young realized that the residual psionic energy he had left in the prophet Lyle’s soul vessel had completely faded.
But that posed no problem at all.
This underground tomb was saturated with the man’s presence.
Black mana emanated from every direction.
Especially from beyond the wall Jin-young had torn open with psychokinesis—a powerful sulfur stench poured out.
Without hesitation, he stepped through.
Shin Soo-jeong followed right behind him.
“So this is the famous hellfire I’ve only heard about. The sulfur smell is no joke.”
She was, as rumored, remarkably friendly and easy to talk to.
“You know something about hellfire?”
“Not in detail, but I’ve read related information in dungeons before. Curious? It might take a while to explain.”
Having raided countless dungeons across the globe, Shin Soo-jeong possessed an unexpected wealth of obscure knowledge.
In his previous life, Jin-young had dismissed such information as useless.
Now? His perspective had changed.
The Black Knight, who had fallen to ruin in another dimension and crossed over to Earth to become a disaster.
The suspicious demonic sword that had been the 1st-grade boss of the Pyongyang Contaminated Zone.
The dimensional gate connected to hell.
The more he acquired things tied to unknown dimensions, the more Jin-young realized how valuable information truly was.
“For now, we have work to do. Let’s save that conversation for later.”
“Sounds good. You saved my life, so that’s the least I can do.”
Following the trail of black mana and sulfur stench, Jin-young and Shin Soo-jeong moved down a long corridor.
They soon arrived in a dim underground chamber.
Much smaller than the space where she had fought the jackal.
At the center stood a black brazier, engulfed in fierce crimson-black flames.
『False Prophet… How did you find this place…?』
A voice emanated from the dark red flames.
It was the prophet Lyle.
Having lost his phoenix body, then his mummies, and now even his pet, only the vessel of his soul remained.
He already knew from the coalition assembly that hellfire attacks were completely ineffective against this man.
He had no means of counterattack.
And in this state, escape was impossible.
He was truly a rat cornered in a trap.
“Do you know how many liches I hunted down in Renard? Compared to them, you’re barely out of diapers.”
Lyle didn’t understand the words “Renard” or “lich,” but he clearly grasped the insult.
Rage boiled up to his head, yet he forced himself to stay calm.
This was exactly when composure was most needed.
Because of his earlier laziness, he had lost everything and even exposed his location.
But the enemy couldn’t do anything to him immediately either.
『Fine… I’ll give you credit for taking everything from me… and tracking me down… But that’s all…』
Jin-young listened to Lyle’s muttering, then lightly applied psychokinesis to the brazier.
Drrrrrr—
It didn’t budge—as if fused to the floor.
Perhaps it had merged with the domain itself.
『My soul, contained within the eternal, undying hellfire… will never be extinguished…』
Lyle declared with confidence.
“I’ve certainly never heard of anyone managing to put out hellfire.”
Shin Soo-jeong, standing beside him, spoke up.
Jin-young had personally experienced Lyle’s hellfire at the coalition assembly.
Instead of extinguishing it, he had compressed it into a sphere and stored it in subspace.
He had later used it effectively to open the Gates of Hell via the scale’s ability.
“No need to put it out. If the fire never dies, that just means I’ve got an infinite power source.”
Huuuuurgle—
At Jin-young’s words, the hellfire flared up violently, as if enraged.
『How dare you… try to claim ownership over me, the master of hellfire…!』
At Lyle’s outburst, Jin-young’s lips curved into a smirk.
“Then I guess that makes me the master of the master of hellfire.”
