Chapter 68: Federation General Assembly (4)
Michelle appeared in the meeting room of the U.S. Association.
Together with Chairwoman Hannah Adams, Association President Kyle Anderson, and CIA Awakener Intelligence Director Lily Dalton, she stepped into the elevator.
“Listen carefully to what I’m about to say from now on. There is a hunter in Korea that no one can oppose.”
“Surely not even Hannah…?”
At Kyle’s question, Michelle nodded gravely.
Hannah, standing beside her and hearing the statement, remained unfazed.
“It’s not Godfather, right?”
Lily asked.
“No, not Godfather. But there is definitely someone with that level of influence. I still don’t know his identity.”
Michelle spoke with a faint trace of unease in her voice.
“You don’t know his identity? Didn’t you see the future?”
Kyle expressed his doubt. This was the first time he had seen Michelle—who had looked into the future—be so uncertain.
“That’s why I plan to go to Korea myself and confirm it.”
Before deciding to travel to Korea, she had briefly activated her Foresight.
At that time, she had no intention of going personally; she had only planned to give Hannah a brief warning about important events.
Because it was a simple activation, the details passed by quickly—until she reached the climax.
For the first time, a figure appeared whose face was completely blurred.
It was something she had never experienced in all her uses of Foresight, so she was startled.
It wasn’t like the “perception distortion” caused by an artifact used by Godfather—this was entirely different. The person’s very presence felt faint, as though blurred out.
Yet the influence that figure exerted was beyond Michelle’s common sense.
From the moment he appeared, he completely dominated the general assembly.
Not through words, but through overwhelming violence.
And among the many victims was none other than U.S. Association President Kyle Anderson.
“Especially you, Kyle. Whatever you do at the general assembly—do not act rashly.”
“…I’ll try.”
Kyle replied in an uneasy voice.
Whatever future Michelle had seen, it clearly wasn’t pleasant for him.
Ding—
The group exited the elevator, passed through the first-floor lobby, and stepped outside the Association building.
Under the dazzling summer sunlight, Michelle stopped in front of the entrance and refused to move any farther.
“Aren’t we going to the airport?”
Before Michelle could answer Kyle’s question—
Sssss—
A blue magic circle formed on the ground, and a Black man appeared.
France’s Zero-grade hunter, Marc Diaby.
“Long time no see, Kyle. And Michelle too.”
Marc greeted them with a bright smile.
The timing was perfect, yet no one was surprised.
It was clearly Michelle the Prophet’s design.
“Let’s go right away.”
At Michelle’s words, Marc activated multi-teleportation with the group.
Sssss—
They instantly arrived in front of the Seoul Association building.
European Union high-grade hunters whom Marc had brought ahead of time were already waiting there.
Though their arrival was sudden, the Association lobby was already packed with reporters.
It was because of Liu Qinglong and his Chinese delegation, who had arrived earlier.
As the American and European hunters entered the Association, the resting reporters immediately swarmed toward them.
Amid the flashing cameras and barrage of questions, Michelle spotted one man.
A fairly neat-looking man—but a face she had never seen before.
He didn’t seem to be a particularly famous hunter, yet the moment she saw him, she instinctively knew.
There was something about that man.
‘Who are you?’
To avoid drawing attention, she asked him silently, mouthing the words.
But the man showed no reaction.
Wondering if he didn’t understand English, she asked again in Korean—still only mouthing the words.
Then the man moved his lips in reply.
***
Currently, no Zero-grade hunter recognized Jin-young.
After parting with Liu Qinglong and spending time with his sister, he had removed his fake face.
With his real face exposed, there shouldn’t have been anyone here who could identify him.
Suddenly, Prophet Michelle spoke to him.
After a brief moment of thought, Jin-young mouthed back in the same silent manner.
‘Did you see me in the future?’
‘I don’t know.’
‘You don’t know?’
Jin-young wondered if he had misinterpreted Michelle’s ambiguous response.
‘Can we meet separately?’
‘In 30 minutes, on the Association rooftop.’
Jin-young suddenly grew curious.
What future had Michelle seen?
He had heard that she lost one eye as the price for glimpsing a critical branching point that would determine humanity’s survival.
The Federation leadership tightly controlled related information, but judging from their movements, it was almost certainly connected to what GODS was doing.
In the worst-case scenario, it would be the descent of a divinity on the level of the Demon King.
Since his regression, Jin-young had continuously altered the future, so he was curious just how much influence he had exerted on the future Michelle had seen.
“Oppa?”
At Chae So-young’s call, Jin-young finally turned back to her.
“Hm?”
“Hunters from the U.S. and European Union have arrived, so I need to get back to work.”
“Ah, right. Go ahead.”
“Looks like I’ll be working overtime for the next few days until the assembly ends anyway. Let’s visit our hometown after the assembly is over.”
Jin-young gave a light nod at his sister’s words.
The arrival of major hunters far earlier than expected—and even the reclusive Prophet Michelle showing up in Korea—spread quickly across the world.
***
Sssss—
A black portal opened on the rooftop of the building, and Jin-young stepped out.
Prophet Michelle was already waiting.
The moment she saw him appear, she spoke.
“As expected… you’re someone my Foresight can’t see.”
“What do you mean by that?”
Jin-young tilted his head.
Michelle’s Korean was quite fluent, so he had no trouble understanding her words.
He simply didn’t grasp the meaning.
“I can predict the near future even without actively using my ability. I can tell who’s about to open a door and appear. But I couldn’t see when or how you would show up.”
It sounded like Jin-young hadn’t existed in the futures Michelle had foreseen.
“Even when you fully activate Foresight, I don’t appear?”
“For the first time, someone whose face was completely blurred appeared in my Foresight. And I had a strong feeling that it was you.”
“Is that so? What was I doing in that future?”
At Jin-young’s question, Michelle bit her lip.
She seemed to hesitate over whether she should say it. But she soon made up her mind and spoke.
“Just before the assembly ended, an incident occurred in the conference hall. You subdued Kyle and Prasad, and crippled Tachibana Yutaro.”
“Hm. Guess they did something to deserve it.”
“······.”
Michelle still harbored doubts about Jin-young.
Kyle aside, Prasad and Yutaro were among the world’s most renowned Zero-grade hunters.
The idea that someone who didn’t even look that strong could easily overpower them didn’t add up.
Of course, in the future she had seen, the hunters had underestimated him—and paid the price.
“Ever since some point, the futures I’ve seen have started changing. And it’s happening because of you—someone who’s never even heard my prophecies.”
The futures Michelle saw were supposed to be absolute truth, but they could be altered with sufficient power.
That was how Hannah had survived and grown stronger up to now.
But Jin-young had changed the future without any prophetic guidance.
“The only person capable of thwarting GODS’s grand plan so easily would be Godfather himself—the one who designed it.”
“So, do I look like Godfather to you?”
Jin-young asked with a smirk, and Michelle shook her head.
“No. In my opinion, you’re someone on a completely different path from Godfather. I couldn’t learn anything more than that.”
There was a possibility—as Lily had speculated—that Jin-young might be Godfather, but Michelle judged the odds extremely low.
Unless Godfather had some special reason, there was no motive for him to destroy his own grand plan with his own hands.
And considering the events that unfolded toward the end of the assembly in her vision, Jin-young seemed to stand in direct opposition to GODS.
That was why Michelle hadn’t hesitated to meet him one-on-one.
If she could win him over completely as an ally here, opposing GODS would become far easier.
The problem was his unpredictability.
From Michelle and the Federation’s perspective, he was little different from embracing chaos itself.
“Even so, the fact that you still wanted to meet me means you’re certain of something. What did you see?”
At Jin-young’s sharp question, Michelle stroked her chin for a moment in thought—but not for long.
“Just before the assembly concludes, an incident will occur in the conference hall.”
***
A large three-story building constructed in Kaesong.
It was the Victory Memorial Hall, built to commemorate the defense against the monster wave and the purification of the contaminated zone to reclaim former territory.
Today, the International Awakener Federation General Assembly was being held in its grand conference hall.
Hunters from nearly every nation with an Awakener Association had shown up without fail.
Yoon Soo-ho, accompanied by his secretary Myung Ji-yoon, greeted the presidents of each national association.
Brazil’s Association President and 1st-grade hunter, Alexander, shook Yoon Soo-ho’s hand and asked.
“Is the Prophet inside?”
“Yes. But it probably won’t be easy to talk to her.”
“Are the American hunters guarding her?”
Alexander’s expression showed clear concern—he seemed desperate to meet the Prophet.
“No. There are already a lot of people lined up hoping to speak with her.”
“Ah, if that’s the case… I can wait as long as it takes if it means meeting the Prophet.”
“Yes. Good luck.”
Yoon Soo-ho gave a half-hearted farewell and sent Alexander on his way.
Most of the hunters he had met so far were looking for the Prophet—it was getting exhausting.
Myung Ji-yoon, who had been checking various things on her tablet beside him, spoke up.
“Excluding the countries that notified us in advance that they couldn’t attend, only Japan, India, and Russia are left.”
Japan had already arrived at Incheon Airport and was on their way to Kaesong.
India and Russia’s attendance remained uncertain.
Both nations were notorious for skipping general assemblies, and both had Association Presidents who ruled like dictators—a shared trait.
“To be honest, it might actually be better if they don’t show up…”
Yoon Soo-ho trailed off as he thought of the Zero-grade hunters from Russia and India.
Prasad Bachchan, the self-proclaimed Emperor of the Indian Empire.
The fact that he had declared himself emperor already marked him as far from ordinary.
Especially since he had a notoriously bad relationship with China’s Liu Qinglong—no one could predict what might happen if the two clashed.
Even Chairwoman Hannah Adams would struggle to intervene if those two went at it.
Of course, if Agent Psycho were present, the situation would be entirely different.
“Both countries are under threat from disasters, so attending would benefit them…”
As Yoon Soo-ho continued, Myung Ji-yoon nodded.
“In that sense, the U.S. really moves fast. Probably thanks to the Prophet, right?”
“Most likely. Michelle must have seen something… I’m curious what it was.”
Yoon Soo-ho thought there had to be a reason Michelle decided to come to Korea.
Perhaps it would be revealed during the assembly.
“I’ll hold the fort here.”
Just as Yoon Soo-ho was about to leave at Myung Ji-yoon’s words—
A single man appeared in the lobby.
He had a slim build and was relatively short for a man, but the aura he gave off was extraordinary.
He had concealed his presence so well on the way here that no one outside had noticed.
His movements were stealthy enough to pass for an assassin, but Yoon Soo-ho recognized him instantly.
India’s new emperor and Zero-grade hunter—Prasad Bachchan.
Prasad silently extended his hand toward Yoon Soo-ho.
Yoon Soo-ho clasped it and greeted him first.
“It’s been a while, Bachchan.”
In response, Prasad tightened his grip, as if trying to crush Yoon Soo-ho’s hand.
But Yoon Soo-ho endured without the slightest flinch—his hand remained perfectly fine.
“You’ve grown quite a bit.”
Prasad spoke with a changed look in his eyes.
He had clearly wanted to confirm whether Yoon Soo-ho had truly become Zero-grade.
Yoon Soo-ho met his gaze directly and said,
“You came to the assembly, so I suppose you’re worried about the disaster after all.”
“I simply thought the time had come.”
After exchanging curt greetings that barely qualified as such, Prasad left a meaningful remark and headed toward the conference hall first.
Soon after, five more hunters appeared.
It was Tachibana Yutaro and the rest of the Japanese delegation.
Yutaro approached with a fake smile and extended his hand toward Yoon Soo-ho.
“Yoon, I heard you’ve reached Zero-grade. Congratulations.”
“Thank you.”
Yoon Soo-ho accepted the handshake out of courtesy.
Unlike Prasad, Yutaro didn’t test his grip strength.
He looked like he had something to say, but ultimately left with only that faint, polite smile.
Myung Ji-yoon felt a prickling sensation on her skin from the invisible power struggle between the two men.
If today hadn’t been the general assembly, they might have already clashed.
“I’ll go greet the Russian delegation—just in case.”
“Please do.”
Leaving Myung Ji-yoon behind, Yoon Soo-ho headed toward the main conference hall.
This was the first time a general assembly had ever been held in Korea, so the tension felt fresh and unfamiliar.
After taking a short deep breath, he opened the large doors and stepped inside.
BOOM!
A deafening crash echoed as a person slammed into one of the walls of the conference hall.
Every hunter gathered inside stared in stunned silence.
Yoon Soo-ho was no exception.
For a split second he wondered if Liu Qinglong and Prasad had already come to blows—then quickly scanned the scene.
“Anyone else got a problem with the conditions?”
A man in a black suit spoke, exuding a menacing aura.
